BILL WARD
&
THE WONDERFUL WOMEN OF WARD

Creator of TORCHY, the blonde bombshell who was as beautiful as she was bountiful. TORCHY embodied America's adoration of excess. Created over 50 years ago and published in GI newspapers during World War II.

The most preeminent and prolific "Good Girl Art" cartoonist who's career spanned more than four decades. Ward was a product of the short-lived but incandescent pulp industry. Comic books, pulp fiction magazines, racy paperback novels - they all flowed to a hungry public with the same torrential volume as television does today. Ward prospered where most didn't - his output was fast and reliable.

Ward's works are featured in Mumford, the major motion picture written and directed by Lawrence Kasdan (The Big Chill, Grand Canyon) and distributed by Disney's Buena Vista Pictures. The film stars Loren Dean, Jason Lee, Alfre Woodard, Ted Danson, David Paymer and Martin Short.

Ward's following in art gallery circles is strong. Solo shows include the Bess Cutler Gallery in NYC and La Luz de Jesus gallery in LA.
